The Shaker Pines Fire Department was proud to announce Firefighter Steve Harz as this years Firefighter of the Year.

Steve Joined Shaker Pines Fire Dept on January 28, 2019.

He Enrolled into a Firefighter I class at the CT Fire Academy in September of that same year.

The Firefighter I Class alone is around 200 hours of classroom and Practical Training before completing the Certification Testing.

He Became Certified Firefighter I and Haz Mat Operational Level in December of 2019

Since Firefighter I Steve has attended The Connecticut Fire Academy

 2Q class (Apparatus Driving)

Certified Pump Operator

Since Joining the Shaker Pines Fire Dept Steve has always had above average attendance in both Fire Calls and Department Training Drills. He is the first one to step up with community events and if we need a hand around the fire station. Steve is a vital part of our cadet program and teaches them more than just fire experience. He teaches how to deal with stressful times, how to manage workloads, and just valuable life lessons that will arise soon for these cadets.

Steve Thanks you for your dedication service here at Shaker Pines Fire Department

We would also like to thank Steve’s wife Karen Harz! Behind every great firefighter is a spouse that dedicates their time in stepping up when we must step out. With out you we cannot do the greatest job in the world, thank you.
